ARC August – Challenge: Accepted

So my good friend Octavia over at Read. Sleep. Repeat. has issued a challenge: get through as many of the ARCs we’re drowning in as possible during the month of August. At first I was like:

But then she mentioned something about a $20 gift card and I was like:

Yep…yep…I do have a lot of ARCs that I need to catch up on. What better way to do so than this?

Thankfully there isn’t a set-in-stone goal to meet, but I’m going to set one of my own. During the month of August, my goal is to read FIVE of the ARCs I have that have either already been published or will be published by August 31st.

“Five??”, you say. “That’s a wimp-tastic number…”, you say. But what you gotta realize is…

Ain't Nobody Got Time For That!

I work a full-time job for the government (which means way more than full-time), run a photography business, run a children’s clothing company, AND try to run a book blog. I usually read an average of 2-3 books per month (and that’s doing GOOD), so this is a HUGE goal for me. Now stop hatin’ and get on to the comments so you can leave me something encouraging – and then follow the link so you can go sign up too. I’ll teach you to sass me…

*cackles* I thought it was pretty good too. :P Thanks, C!

  1. Sophie Louise (@DayDreamsWorld)

I may join in too! Good luck on getting to five ARC’s! I have so many HUGE one’s I need to read. ARC’s are no longer average size.

    • Shannon

You should definitely join us!! My ARCs aren’t necessarily huge, I just have so many of them. I don’t know why I requested so many!!

Yes I do. I’m a bookwhore. Addicted to books. I CAN’T HELP MYSELF.

  2. Octavia

    Your awesome you know?!

    1. Your gifs are on point! I loves them all!!
    2. $20 BUCKS!! Uh huh!!!!

I haven’t set an amount I want to complete but I’m pretty sure it will be jaw dropping. I’ll go big or home just like you. ;)

    • Shannon

*primps* Yeah, I know. LOL, I figured you’d enjoy my gifs! Think I did a pretty good job on those for not being much of a gif user.

GO BIG OR GO HOME. That’s how we do!

    • Shannon

Thanks Erin!!! I might need you to be my personal cheerleader that month so go on and free up your schedule, ok??

    • Shannon

Hahaha, August 1st! Be there, bright and early!

  3. Leigh (LittleBookStar)

oh, my gosh. THIS is what I need! I have a bunch of arcs and some have already been put into the archive and I haven’t read it :( that is so bad & I don’t want that to happen again. And yeah, one does not simply have time for that craziness xD I feel you!

    Little Book Star

    • Shannon

I totally feel your pain, Leigh! I have a whole list of books I got as ARCs that have since been PUBLISHED. That bothers me so bad! I can’t wait to get caught up, whenever that may be. Hope you’ll join us!

      • Leigh (LittleBookStar)

OMG I feel you! I hate it when I read ARCs AFTER they’ve been published. Grrrr. I’ll def. join!

  4. Charlotte

Oh my goodness that last meme xD I’m considering and thinking about participating, my main hesitation is because in August I’ve got exams hmmm. But good luck Shannon! Loving your use of gifs in this post, Pitch Perfect and Jennifer Aniston? I APPROVE.

    • Shannon

Thank you, thank you! *bows* I always forget to use gifs in my posts so I thought I did a pretty awesome job on this one, lol. I’ve got work and all that stuff going on but I’m still gonna give it a try – you should too! That’s the good thing, it’s very laid back and it’s not like anyone’s going to punish you if you don’t manage to read a lot of ARCs. :P

  5. Leanne

I’ve seen this a couple times now and it makes me giggle every time. I want to participate because I want to do ALL THE THINGS, but have way too many challenges already. I started requesting ARCs though… bad idea haha. Because of course I want to read all the things. All of them. FO FREE. At least right now my ARC number is manageable (9, and they are spread out between now and January 2014). One of them I got right after it was released, and two of them are being released on the 30th of this month so I really need to get to reading and reviewing those. I just can’t stay away from Twitter and blog hopping long enough, gah!

Anyway I’m sure you will do fine in August! I’m assuming you only pick ARCs that you really really want to read because there are too many to choose from otherwise. Once you pick them up I hope you fall in love with them all so you can get through them painlessly. :)

    • Shannon

I wish I only had 9 ARCs to read! Well, in one way. In another way I’m glad I have a lot – I’m just not glad I don’t have the time I need to go along with them. My ARC list is RIDICULOUS.

I think I’ll be able to make my goal though! We shall see. I just signed up for another readathon too! D:

      • Leanne

Wellll since I posted this that 9 has gone up to 40, and two authors have contacted me on Goodreads for me to read and review their books. Haha. So much for having a manageable list!

I don’t sign up for the readathons but I really should make it a habit to have mini ones on my own whenever I have slow days at work and get home early or something. I don’t know how I will get through these books otherwise!

  6. Angelica @ Paperback Princess

OMG Shannon your one hell of a woman to even be able to read that many when you have so many things to do! I could only wish I was that busy :( I often find myself bored despite quite a few things to clean at home, I just can’t get motived to do the MUST DO CLEANING!

LOL btw I love your gif’s. I see that your also participating in the Beat The Heat Read-a-thon, see you there too ;)
